Well the deathwatch started a few days ago for Yassir Arafat has come to an end - the PLO leader has died this evening and Palestinians all over the world are mourning his loss. The meetings recently to try to insure the current peace in the region are an indication that there is truly Palestinian leadership that can produce a lasting peace in spite of the fact that Arafat has been "the voice" of his people for so long.
We here at PoliticalBlogWatch would like to convey our condolences to Mr.Arafats family and his fellow countrymen.
May Peace Be With You All

ACT Blog - Both Sides Weighing In
On a recent "recruitment trip" to the ACT blog, I couldn't help but notice that both sides of the aisle were being represented in the posts there. There were many posts from Bush supporters that ordinarily would seem out of place on that site. More than one Kerry-Edwards supporter had indicated that the site was over-run by the Pro-Bush people and would not be posting to it until ACT got back to work and didn't let them "gloat" over the election win for Bush.
I personally applaud ACT and the folks that are in control of that blog because to just close the posts to anyone not agreeing with you is simply an act of censorship and does not promote true understanding between the parties. We need to realize that if we don't communicate effectively with all the different "factions" of our great nation we will simply become what we fear they have become !
Yes, I know it bothers many to see posts that appear to only be about rubbing salt into the wounds ,but look at it instead as an invitation for them to see how determined you are to get your views understood and considered by our President no matter whether he is the one you voted for or not. Besides who wants to only hear from people who think exactly like you ?

The Solution To School Funding
After long deliberation on the issue, I belive we have a solution to the problem of school funding. If congress were to tie spending on the Iraq war to the school funding here at home, we would solve the problem of underfunding of our schools. For every dollar spent on the war, we could require a dollar spent on the education of our children ! Imagine the impact of such funding ? Hey, it may even end up with the government ending the war due to the fact they can't afford to fund our schools equally. what does this say about our priorities as a nation when our tax revenues can be spent killing Iraqis, building them schools and fire or police stations but nothing for our children. Build up our education system here - our children are our future not rebuilding Iraq. Our schools deserve to be funded equally to the war if not well beyond what is being spent on Iraq!
End The War In Iraq........NOW !
We all need to call on our friends, relatives and even those we may count as our enemies to demand an end to the war in Iraq. President Bush will only let this war continue as long as we stand by and say nothing. Take this post as a call to action. If you simply sit on your ass and do nothing then you are part of the problem. This great country of ours relies on all of us putting our opinions out there in order to create communication which will result in an open and responsive government.
Our President is not an evil being he is simply only hearing from those who think exactly like him. Speak out and get your voices heard and in turn he will get the message. You must as a responsible citizen take part in the way our government operates. After spending the last couple of weeks getting out the vote for a democratic party based organization ,I have begun to realize that there are many in this country who complain and say they will participate then make excuses as to why they didn't.
If you love our country and our way of life you will particpate and get involved to make a change. Excuses are simply that an excuse. right now it is imperative we work with President Bush and his administration to get out or Iraq as quickly as possible. We can do this by making sure that he understands where we the people stand on the issue. If he understands that even those who voted for him are opposed to the war then he will do something about it. As of now he only hears what a few aides that don't want to rock the "boat" let him hear. There are those in his administration that have interests in the oil in Iraq and other business ventures that go against the interests of the counry as a whole. Need I mention any names?

Arafat Death A Threat To Peace ?
Now that Arafat's death seems to be iminent, the question arises "will peace be possible with the change in leadership of the palestinians?" . Most famliar with the current situation in the region are aware that there already was a change in the region prior to Arafat's health problems. The outlook does not appear to be one of impending peace , but rather of impending doom.
There are many reasons for the fear of escalation of violence in this already turbulent corner of the globe. The first reason is of course the is what appears to this writer as the refusal of the Isrealis to stop building where they already had promised not to develop. They seem to just ignore that they made a promise and have found it in there interests to simply say we never said we would stop developing the areas where Isrealis are already living but rather we won't open any new developments. How convenient !
If this region is to ever see peace, the Isrealis will first have to keep thier word when they give it. When they start doing that then the Palestinians will begin to trust, which by the way is an important ingredient in process of finding common ground and ultimately a lasting peace.

Welcome to PoliticalBlogWatch :
Welcome to the PoliticalBlogWatch site. We hope to promote political dialogue in an open forum that in turn promotes education on political issues nationally and worldwide. All points of view will be allowed, even those that I as the founder may find offensive personally. I feel the only way to truly address some of the issues facing our nation and the global community is to allow discussion with no limits on who may participate. Besides who only wants to hear from like minded people ? It would not result in a true disscussion of the issues.
PoliticalBlogWatch would also like to hear about any politically based blogs out there we will be happy to provide a link from our site to all that are submitted regardless or issue or point of views expressed on them.
We anxiously await your replies and posts,
The Site Manager- John Zagarella
